From the Head of Junior School
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our parents for the incredible job you are all doing to support your children during these unprecedented times. As far as I am concerned, as always, our students’ wellbeing is of paramount importance. Please know that it is perfectly acceptable for your child not to complete every piece of work that their teacher sets if it does not work for you in your home on that day. It is more important that your home environment is a healthy, happy place, for not only our students but for yourselves as parents. It is proving to be a massive task for some parents who are not only overseeing one child’s learning but maybe assisting the learning of multiple children while working from home themselves or parenting babies or toddlers or dealing with isolated elderly relatives or heaven forbid, worried about sick family members. I would like to ask that you please be kind to yourselves. Thank you also for your understanding in relation to our teachers, many of whom are going through the above mentioned difficulties while still doing everything they can to ensure they are providing meaningful learning activities for your children. Let us all be kind, compassionate and caring to all members of our wonderful CGS community. The learning for each of our beautiful students will look different but please rest assured that when we are back on site, our dedicated teachers will do everything in their power to catch our students up. As staff, we want what you do as their parents, the very best for your lovely children.
It was my pleasure to have been involved in our first Remote Assembly for our Year 3-6 students today. I have already received some entries for our House Challenge. Remembering that this is an optional activity, those who are interested, please continue to send me your photos. I look forward to seeing them. We are hoping to extend Remote Assemblies to our P-2 classes next week.
Please keep safe and well until we are next together at our wonderful CGS.

Library Resources
“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.” Mason Cooley
The wonderful Mrs Mandy Horton reminded me of this quote recently and I thought it would make for a wonderful category of library resources in this newsletter. Although we are stuck at home we can travel across many different places (and times) through the magic of reading.
I am currently travelling through the Six Duchies, a mythical place of magic and dragons; alongside a character named Fitz and his wolf companion Nighteyes. I would love to hear about your recent travels!
Here are some resources for those who need some travel inspiration:

Finally, well done to 8A who have increased their number of AR quizzes in the last fortnight. 6M and 6N are tied at 28 quizzes for each class
Happy reading (and travelling)!

Remote Learning with 4N
4N love coming to our Google Meets each morning. We complete a roll question, go through the daily tasks, share jokes, tell stories and say good morning to each other.
So far we have enjoyed a bring our pet day, wear our pyjamas, bring our favourite toys and share our learning space. Whilst we cannot wait to get back to school, we are all happy to get online and share our morning together.

Booth House Meeting Fun
On Friday 24 April, Booth House had their very first Google Meet. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. The students brought something green to the meeting and it was fantastic to see their creativity. We had so much fun, we began the meeting by talking about the ups and downs of online learning, then the students shared jokes and we finished off by playing some games. One thing that was agreed upon, was that everyone was missing school, especially their friends!
