From the Head of Senior School
Week 7 sees the return of our Year 11 and 12 students. On Thursday, I presented what the return to on-campus learning will look like to our VCE students. I will also publish the school arrival protocols for VCE students before Tuesday as there are some changes that students need to embrace, so we all feel safe as we return to on-campus learning.
One important thing to remember is that Year 12s are classed as adults and with that comes another layer of responsibilities. Year 12s will need to be temperature checked upon arrival each day and ensure they maintain social distancing throughout their day. To help stagger arrival and departure of students, the Year 12s have been given the responsibility of arriving later if they have a study period 1 and leaving earlier if they have a study period 6.
The VCE Centre looks different as we now have social distancing protocols in place with yellow tape and signs to remind students, plus a plan for the smooth flow of traffic between classes. These two pictures are of the lower floor of the VCE centre and shows some of the changes in place.
Mrs Williams’ letter a few days ago and my Thursday presentation outlined several of the protocols that have been put into place and these will all take some getting used to, but I know our students are capable of these changes, as they have shown this resilience throughout the course of the Remote Learning Program.
The exciting news from VCAA today is the confirmation of the dates for the final VCE exams. The exams will now occur from 9 November and conclude 2 December. The other date to note is the GAT exam which will be on 9 September. This is exciting as we now have dates to work with and we can plan other important events around this such as Valedictory.
The Year 7 to 10 students remain remote learning until weeks 9 and 10 and we are planning your return carefully as well. You will also find that your locker bays have marked areas and your classrooms have designated student and teacher areas with protocols for lining up outside as well. I will be in touch with you next week as I have a presentation planned about these protocols, just as I delivered to the VCE students.
Well done to all students and teachers on such a successful Remote Learning Program and I look forward to seeing you all back on campus before the end of Term 2! It has been lonely without you all here!
