From the Head of Junior School

It was with pleasure and delight that we welcomed our P-6 students back to Casey Grammar School this week. The smiles on their faces, the laughter that rang out throughout classrooms and in the playground and the joy of catching up with friends has been heart-warming. It is truly wonderful to have our students all back where they belong.

I’d like to congratulate the cast of our Online Production, 'The Show Must Go On’ that was watched in our Year 3-6 classrooms during our scheduled Assembly time on Thursday. The cast was made up of talented Year 5 & 6 students who dedicated time to learn their lines and practice their songs and then performed their part remotely. Sincere thanks to each of them and our wonderful Mrs Bronwyn Kyne, who without, the show most definitely would not have gone on!

Here's to a great term of togetherness and much learning, may it all be onsite.

Keep safe and well

Performing Arts News

After a lot of hard work from our Year 5 & 6 cast members, Lucy van Brakel, Year 3 and their families, our Junior School Online Musical - The Show Must Go Online! A virtual children’s musical is finally ready!!!

This musical has been made entirely by the children and I know they are very excited to share this collaborative creative project with the rest of the Casey Grammar School community on Thursday 15 October.

Our Very First Online Piano Concert

Well done to everyone who performed at the first remote Piano Concert.

What a great way to end Term 3, sharing your music with each other.

It was lovely to see all the positive comments shared by the students during the performances and the respect they showed for each other listening quietly to the playing.

Thank you to Mrs Bronwyn Kyne for also attending and supporting the students.

Here are some student recounts

'At first I was pretty crazy nervous. But I listened to someone else play and it made me feel excited for my turn. I liked how we all played different types of really cool music pieces even though we were all played the same instrument. It was soooooo much fun. I really like playing the piano a lot.' Natalie Hogan, 1B

'In the last week of Term 3 I did a piano concert with a few other students who play the piano. I played Jingle Bells and Boogie-Woogie beat and it felt amazing to play to everyone who was listening. The only difference was that it was online and we weren't on a stage but it still felt great to play to everyone!!!! Remote learning for my piano lessons have been no different to school as I have thoroughly enjoyed playing piano with Antoinette guiding me every week.' Vrinda Sharma, 3R 🎉🎉🎉

'My first remote concert was 17/09/2020. Everyone who participated played at least one piece, and each and every one of them was amazing. It was really kind of Mrs Seal to host this concert, as we couldn't do it on the stage. It was nice of Mrs Kyne to come, too! It was the perfect end to the term!' 🎹 Ayaana Arora, 4N

'On Thursday the 17th of September, some music students held a remote concert. In this concert, we played many types of music. From Harry Potter to Jingle Bells, we had it all. The concert was quite enjoyable, considering that we haven’t had a remote concert before. As we all played, there were many positive comments about each other’s work. We didn’t laugh if someone made a mistake, but we encouraged them. Overall, the concert was amazing and I would definitely do it again if I had the chance.' Alma Theodorakopoulos, 5D
