Why Counselling?

Has your child ever considered counselling and asked themselves, “Why do I need counselling?” “Is counselling only for people with mental health problems?” or “I don’t need counselling — I don’t have any problems,” or maybe even “Nothing can help me”?

At Casey Grammar, we believe that mental health and wellbeing are essential for life success and fundamental for academic achievement. School counselling can support your child’s mental health and wellbeing in many ways. Our counselling services provide students with a safe and supportive space to explore their feelings, overcome challenges and build resilience, whether managing stress, navigating relationships, facing personal struggles, anxiety, low mood, motivation, procrastination. It provides strategies for achieving academic success through organisation and balancing social and emotional needs.

We understand that privacy and confidentiality are essential when it comes to seeking support. While there are age dependent limitations, and safety and risk management considerations, counselling sessions are private and individual, creating a safe environment where students can openly discuss their thoughts and feelings. Our overall goal is to help each student to develop the strategies and tools they need to help themselves, while feeling comfortable and supported throughout their journey, knowing that their personal information is always kept secure.

Counselling may help students to find solutions to their challenge, but it is also designed to assist the student’s growth and development. By supporting emotional wellbeing, we empower students to make confident decisions, build healthy relationships and feel equipped to face life’s challenges.
