Parent Engagement

It is always wonderful to welcome our parents into the school. There have been several significant events over the past two weeks where staff, students and parents have come together in celebration

The annual Foundation Welcome BBQ was held on Friday 14 February. It was a wonderful informal gathering for Foundation students, parents and staff to get to know each other. I am indebted to the Parents and Friends Committee for running this BBQ each year.

Year 7 parents and students enjoyed an evening spent with the teaching team when they learnt more about the Year 7 journey and started preparing for the camp which is being held this week

Our Junior School threw open its doors to all parents so they could meet their child’s new teacher and become familiar with their child’s classroom. This was another lovely opportunity for staff and parents to get to know each other.

Showing Respect

I have unfortunately received reports of some disrespectful driver behaviour in the school's PAC car park.  It is an expectation that parents always demonstrate the values of the school in their interactions with others. Cutting off other drivers, yelling, swearing and making rude gestures at people in the car park is never OK. Of particular concern is that this is happening in front of our children.

All parents who choose to pick up from the PAC car park are aware that it takes some time to exit the car park at the end of the school day. Please show patience and respect as you take your turn to leave the school in the afternoon.

I remind all users of the car park that staff on duty are there to ensure the safety of your children in the car park. They are not required to police the behaviour of parents. Please always show patience and respect towards other car park users and staff.

Student Engagement

I extend my thanks for our School Chaplain Mrs Monique Riviere Pendle who organised both the Junior School and Senior School Leadership Commissioning Services. They were both beautiful events which acknowledged the privilege and responsibility of being a leader in the school. Congratulations to all our Years 6 and 12 leaders in 2025.

The Senior School House Debating championship kicked off last week with a memorable Staff vs Student Debate. Congratulations to the staff who won the debate by the narrowest of margins. The DAV debating commences this week.

Under very warm conditions, the Junior School (Years 3–6) Athletics Carnival was held at Casey Fields last Friday. As a spectator, I was impressed by the friendly competition I witnessed amongst the students.

While each child was striving to do their best on the track and field, they also demonstrated inclusiveness, integrity and compassion towards others, both on the track and while cheering on their teammates from the stands. I am very proud of the sportspersonship shown by all our students.
