Junior School Commissioning
It was a pleasure last Thursday to come together in celebration of our Year 6s and our new Junior School Leaders for our Commissioning Service. We were delighted to hear Natalie, our new Performing Arts Captain perform on the piano. It was amazing to see her practice paying off as she played completely off by heart.
In addition to celebrating the Year 6s, we commissioned our new Heads of Booth and Reid: Mrs Harvie and Mrs Iriyadi. Every Year 6 student was presented with a candle from their Head of House to mark the occasion, and we were excited to hear from our new Junior School Captains, Myra and Saahib. Here is Saahib’s reflection:
"I’m one of your Junior School captains with Myra. Two leaders that have inspired me are my parents. They are people that stand out to me because they are punctual (always on time), hardworking, and their ability to communicate with others is also outstanding. The reason why I am a leader is because of them, and I am very grateful for what they have done for me and everyone. I hope that I will be like my parents and will do my best to be kind and nice to everyone." Saahib

Thanks to all the students involved and the staff who helped to make the morning possible.
Senior School Commissioning
Last Tuesday the whole of Senior School came together to celebrate the Year 12s and Senior Leaders. We loved sharing a reflection on their journey to this point, even going back to some of their Prep photos. It is a reminder of how quickly time goes — it doesn’t seem that long ago since their Year 6 Commissioning.

We were also privileged to have a performance by Ela (Year 12) and CGS piano teacher, Chris Limpah. We have been fortunate to hear Ela’s flute playing over many years and they performed so well. Each Year 12 was presented with their badges, and all leaders with their certificates. A key part of this service is that it is intended to be a reminder of the support of the school community as our Year 12s commence their final year of school. One way we do this is by staff nominating particular quotes, and we create a presentation of staff sharing words of encouragement and support for the Year 12s.
Here are some of the words of wisdom they selected:
“No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.” Ms Blythman
“Consistency is key.” Ms West
“Don’t stop until you’re proud.” Mr Vandenberg
“Be the person you want the world to be. The only person you are in a competition with is yourself. You CAN do this. We believe in you.” Mrs Rosetto
Huge thanks to Agam (Year 8) who so capably oversaw the AV needs of the Commissioning Services, along with Mr Hartland, Mr Collidge and Ms T. Their assistance was greatly appreciated.

We pray that the start of these two significant years, our students will be reminded of the importance of leadership that reflects the values of our school and makes our community better for their presence.
I am looking forward to seeing what the year brings as our students make the roles their own.
