From the Head of Senior School

As the 2024 school year draws to a close, it has been both a busy and rewarding time for our school community. Senior School students have spent the last two weeks settling into their new classes, meeting their teachers, and starting their coursework in preparation for the year ahead. This Early Commencement program has provided an invaluable preview of what lies ahead in 2025, setting a strong foundation for the start of the academic year.

The new school year will begin with staggered start dates:

  • Year 7 and VCE students will commence Term 1 on Tuesday, 28 January
  • Years 8, 9 and 10 students will begin Term 1 on Wednesday, 29 January

We have also had the pleasure of welcoming new students to Casey Grammar, particularly our incoming Year 7 cohort, who recently enjoyed their Orientation Day. It was wonderful to see so many new friendships forming, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere as we look forward to 2025.

To those leaving Casey Grammar, we wish you well in your journey ahead and thank you for your contributions throughout your time at Casey Grammar.

Year 12 Retreat

In the lead up to Early Commencement, students stayed overnight at Iluka Retreat on the Mornington Peninsula for the Year 12 Retreat. This was an opportunity to unwind after the end-of-year exams, and equally an appropriate way to commence the transition from Year 11 into Year 12, preparing the cohort for personal wellness and academic success in 2025 and beyond.

During the retreat, students had the opportunity to reflect on who they are and where they are going. Our guest presenter, Glen Gerryn, emphasised the importance of following your dreams, and his strategies that focused on how to achieve your purpose were incredibly motivational. Students spent time with their peers, preparing their shared vision for success.

Awards Evening

During Monday’s Senior School Awards Evening, we had the privilege of celebrating the accomplishments of our Senior School students. The event highlighted excellence across various areas, including academic success, exceptional effort and perseverance, leadership, involvement in co-curricular activities and dedication to the Casey Grammar community.

The Dux and Proxime Accessit in Years 7 to 10 for the 2024 school year are as follows:

Year 7 – Isha S & Sarbjot S
Year 8 – Ekam G & Theekshana T
Year 9 – Esha S & Egor O
Year 10 – Andelib J & Binara W

Congratulations to all students who received SIS Best & Fairest awards, academic awards for Semester 2, Colours and special awards, and well done to our musicians who performed on the night.

VCE Special Provision 2025

Casey Grammar follows the VCAA recommendation of initiating and supporting the Special Provisions that are likely to be approved, or have been approved, by VCAA for all school-based assessments. We will do this for VCE Units 1 to 4 for school-based assessments, and for Units 3 and 4 for external examinations and the GAT.

If you think you might be eligible for Special Provision, please read the VCAA website:
https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/ad...

It is very important to note that, even if you completed this process for 2024, you need to make a new application for 2025.

Happy Holidays

I take this opportunity to wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a refreshing holiday. Best wishes for the New Year.
