It is hard to believe that this is our final newsletter for the year. As always, it is a fun, busy and joyful time of the year as we celebrate achievements, the Christmas story, new classes and various CGS end of the year traditions.

Year 12 2025: United

Recently our 2025 Year 12 students went on retreat, and we had the pleasure of sharing in a year level Chapel. It was the first time I have led such a service with this particular year level, and it was special to have that time in a smaller setting. We focused on the theme of being ‘united’ at this particular time as they reflect on their journey so far at CGS as well as what they hope the coming year will hold.

A key part of this is the way in which the students support each other and unite towards common goals. Our Heads of House each shared important messages with the students, reminding all of our Year 12 students about the support available to them.

Our Bible Reading was from 1 Peter 3:8 where Paul writes about how to live a good life and relate to those around us. He writes, ‘Finally, all of you, be united, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.’

When preparing, I found a powerful definition of humility;

Humility is the first step towards greatness

In admitting that we don’t know everything

We open ourselves to learning.

In admitting that we can fail

We open another pathway to success.

In admitting that we are flawed

We open ourselves to accepting others.

As we close the year, this is a helpful encouragement for us all.

Christmas at Casey – Donations

There are a number of important traditions at CGS in the lead up to Christmas. One is the collection of donations across the entire school. Junior School students have been enthusiastically donating gifts and food for local families that will be distributed through the Salvation Army. Wellbeing groups in the Senior School are collecting until Thursday 5 December to support organisations including Backpacks 4 Vic Kids, the Salvation Army, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Pets 4 the Homeless.

All families are invited to consider their response to these donation drives, and the way in which we can support individuals in need together. There is something extremely humbling about seeing the sum total of all the individual donations from CGS. An enormous thanks to all who have contributed so generously.

Christmas at Casey – Chapel Services

Our Year 5 students are working hard (along with their wonderful teacher Mrs Grant) on our Junior School Chapel service. This is a very special service when we will share songs and a play, as well as bringing forward the Booth baskets to be received by representatives from the Salvation Army.

Families of Year 5 students are welcome to attend on Thursday 4 December at 9:50am in the PAC.

The Senior School Chapel service will take place on Friday 5 December. Due to space constraints it is only for students. We are looking forward to sharing the beautiful story of the Nativity in our service together.

Every blessing to you and your families as we conclude the year.
