From the Head of Senior School
The final weeks of Term 4 are undoubtedly one of the busiest periods on the school calendar. With end-of-year exams wrapping up, Year 11 students preparing to head off on ‘retreat,’ and the successful hosting of an Information Evening for incoming Year 7 families, we now look forward to launching into 12 days of Early Commencement for the 2025 school year.
I would like to thank our dedicated teachers for writing and grading exams, for preparing Early Commencement lessons, and for developing programs that are content-rich and inspiring. Additionally, we eagerly anticipate the Creative Minds Visual Arts Exhibition, which will showcase the impressive work of our students, including performances by our talented musicians. The official opening will take place this Friday in the foyer of the Performing Arts Centre.
Save The Date
At the upcoming Awards Evening, we are excited to celebrate the achievements of our Senior School students in both academic and co-curricular pursuits, while recognising outstanding individuals with a variety of sponsored awards. This year’s Awards Evening will take place on Monday, 2 December.
Families of award recipients will be notified in the days leading up to the event. We encourage all students to attend, show support for their peers, and join in celebrating the many accomplishments of 2024.
Sporting News
Alice W (Year 8) has qualified for the Victorian Age Long Course Swimming Championships.
In her recent 400-metre freestyle event at a long course (50-metre pool) competition, the qualifying time for 14-year-old females was set at 5 minutes and 12 seconds. Alice exceeded expectations by completing her swim in an outstanding 5 minutes and 2 seconds — a time that even surpasses the qualifying benchmark for 18-year-old females!
In addition to securing her place in the State Swimming Championships this December, Alice has also been selected to compete in an 800-metre event this Friday, aiming to achieve the qualifying time for that distance as well.
Best of luck, Alice, and congratulations on your incredible accomplishments.

Film and Photography Competition
Over the course of the semester, the Media Department ran a Film and Photography competition for students in the Senior School. This initiative gave the students a chance to create a short film or take photographs in any style or genre of their choosing.
The idea behind the challenge was to provide a creative outlet and something fun to channel the students' energies into. We received a multitude of entries from students from every year level in the Senior School and the quality, polish and creativity of their work was beyond impressive.
