Junior School Report

Congratulations to our fifty students who represented CGS in the District Athletics at Casey Fields. Thanks to Mr Batey and the staff who attended on the day. Well done and all the best to the following thirteen students who qualified for Divisional Athletics that takes place tomorrow: Levi, Reet, Olivia, Vinuka, Snaver, Yoshara, Saahib, Cleo, Zara, Tyler, Logan, Taj and Max.

It was wonderful to see our students’ incredible hair styles during our Reid fundraiser on Crazy Hair Day. Most importantly, we raised much needed funds to support the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day. The Cancer Council is committed to advancing cancer research, providing essential support services and raising awareness about cancer prevention. Sincere thanks to everyone for your generosity. We raised an enormous $1,654.70 for this most worthy charity. Congratulations to our Reid Head of House, Mrs Sarah Black, and her fabulous Reid students.

We held our annual House Soccer Competition last week and it was great to see so many students and teachers out on the oval supporting our four teams. Congratulations to each of our Houses. The final results were:

4th place Booth

3rd place Trist

2nd place Leaver

1st place Reid

On 12 September, all CGS students and staff acknowledged the very important R U OK? Day. Students discussed the importance of being a good friend and checking in regularly on one another. The Junior School Wellbeing committee delivered cupcakes to each class to raise awareness of this important cause. The school was decorated in yellow to mark the occasion. Thanks to Mr Byrne-Nelson and Miss Reale for everything they did to ensure the day was a success.

Our fabulous and much anticipated Production of What A Knight! is almost here. Wishing all our Years 3–6 students and our main cast all the very best for Wednesday's and Thursday’s performances. This would not be possible without the help of our generous staff who give up their own time to be here over the two evenings. This is very much appreciated. A HUGE heartfelt thank you to our incredible Mrs Kyne who has almost singlehandedly made this production a reality. We will be forever indebted to you. Sincere thanks, break a leg and now on with the show.

Hoping everyone enjoys another wonderful break filled with family, friends, relaxation and recuperation.

See you on Tuesday 8 October for Term 4!

Daffodil Day

Daffodil Day brought a burst of colour and creativity to our school, as students went all out for Crazy Hair Day. This annual event, which supports the Cancer Council’s crucial work in cancer research and support, was organised and run by Reid House. The vibrant daffodil, a symbol of hope, stood tall as a reminder of our shared mission to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm and generosity, we raised an incredible $1,656.70. From spider-inspired hairdos to cupcakes, ice creams, rainbows and more, the creativity on display was nothing short of amazing. A huge thank you to everyone who sported a wild hairstyle and purchased a badge to support this important cause.

What A Knight!

WOW – what a term it has been! I am so very proud of the cast and all our Years 3–6 students for their amazing efforts during What a Knight!

The students certainly rose to the challenge of auditions, honing their characterisation skills and learning their songs and dances.

Thank you to the parents and staff who helped with all the costumes, the students look amazing.

On Thursday we did a preview for the Foundation to Year 2 students, and it was obvious that the students really enjoyed performing for them and can’t wait to do it all again in front of their loved ones in the audience.

To everyone on stage, backstage and front of house, thank you for making this such an amazing show. It is definitely a Casey Grammar School community effort. Well done everyone!

I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 September.

House Meeting for the Foundation Students

The Foundation students thoroughly enjoyed their first House meeting, which provided a great opportunity for them to meet their Head of House and spend time with their housemates. The students had a lot of fun participating in various activities, including learning their House chant, exploring the House values, and discovering their house mascot. They also took part in some exciting games, adding to the fun of the event.

The enthusiasm and excitement of the students were clear throughout the meeting. The Heads of Houses were particularly impressed by the students’ behaviour and sportsmanship, noting how well they embodied the school values during their first House meeting.

Well done Foundation Students!

R U OK? Day

On Thursday 12 September, we came together to check in on each other and raise awareness for mental health as part of R U OK? Day. Our staff enjoyed a lovely morning tea, taking a moment to relax, connect and support one another. Meanwhile, our incredible Wellbeing Committee spread smiles across the Junior School, delivering cupcakes and sparking conversations about the importance of asking, "R U OK?." Remember, you can ask R U OK? any day, because life happens every day.
