Playground Opening and Closing Times
To ensure the safety of our Junior School students on the playground, students can only play under the supervision of a staff member. Staff are rostered to supervise the playground from 8.30am – 8.50am. In the afternoons, the playground is supervised from 3.15pm – 3.35pm. The playground closes at 3.35pm at which time parents and students should leave the area.

Casey Grammar Students Achieving Excellence
Deakin Law Debate
Our Senior Debating team competed in the Deakin Law Debate for the first time this year. The team came 3rd out of 18 teams (Korowa and MacRob came first and second). Congratulations to Tina M who won a Best Speaker Awards and to James D who won two Best Speaker Awards! We were the only team from the Southeast to compete and we competed against many prestigious inner-city schools. Debating is thriving at Casey Grammar thanks to our extraordinary coach Ms Naomi Weiler.
Monash Scholars Program
Congratulations to Tessa S (Year 10) who has been selected for the Monash Scholars Program 2024. This program is for high achieving students who will be invited to participate in a range of pre-University activities at Monash University over the next 2 ½ years. Congratulations Tessa.
Victorian Cross Country Competition
Snaver M (Year 5) represented Casey Grammar in the Victorian Cross Country. He came 33 out of 110 competitors. We are very proud of his effort and his achievement.
Congratulations Danielle
Congratulations to Danielle Searles who was recently named as Most Influential Educators in Australia 2024. The Most Influential Educators in Australia are inspirational leaders and changemakers who’ve made an impact on their students and school communities. Camps
When young people look back over their years at school, it is often their experiences at school camps which they remember most fondly. Casey Grammar has a carefully designed, sequential camp program which commences in Year 3. Being away from home and being challenged to contribute to the functioning and development of their camp community teaches students important lifeskills such as responsibility, initiative, resilience, cooperation, leadership and respect. Camps from Year 3 – Year 9 are compulsory and extremely important school activities. The Year 10 and Year 11 retreats are also extremely important events which contribute to our student’s preparation for VCE along with developing skills in teamwork, leadership and initiative.
Year 8 Camp
Last week, our Year 8 students created some fond memories and new friendships at camp. Thank you to the staff who attended the camp Mrs Dwyer, Mr Murdock, Mr Clutton, Mrs Garby, Mr Chanter, Mrs Midwinter, Mrs Farrugia and Mr Brown. Without them, our students would not have had tis wonderful learning opportunity.
Ski Trip
A very successful Snow Camp was held for senior students from Sun 14 – Fri 19 July. Students learned new skills and developed new friendships. They demonstrated excellent resilience and a positive attitude throughout the camp. Thank you to the staff who made sure the camp ran smoothly and safely; Kate Morgan, Anthony Brown, Chris Bucknell, Sarah Black and Alison Blanchard.

Safety and Wellbeing at School
Our goal is that every student feels safe, connected, and respected at school, however, like every school, this is not always the case. When things happen to make students feel upset or worried, our ideal is that they have an adult at the school to whom they would be confident to raise the concern and very often this is the case.
For a variety of reasons, sometimes students do not feel confident to talk about incidents and so for these situations we provide an online reporting mechanism. On the students SEQTA ‘Welcome’ page, there is a button in the top left position called ‘Casey Cares – Report an incident’.
This button takes the students to an online form on which they can provide information about an incident impacting them or someone else. The use of this button, and a reminder about the ethics of doing so, will be part of the Senior School Assembly next week. Students in Year 4-6 will also be introduced to this reporting mechanism in coming days.
The Importance of Sleep for Academic Success
Our first Senior School Assembly this term had a strong learning focus, with speakers talking about and encouraging students to make the most of their opportunities to learn. An often-overlooked aspect of learning is sleep. Children and teenagers need adequate sleep for many reasons, but learning is one of them. The brain does some important ‘house-keeping’ while we sleep, and good sleep can assist children and teenagers to retain new information more effectively. One of the best things children and teenagers can do to improve their sleep is having a consistent routine around bedtime.
