Junior School Report

Year 5L students hosted an engaging and entertaining class assembly titled, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? The assembly included our talented Year 5 students acting as teachers in a fun-filled quiz competition. The assembly was attended by students, teachers and parents, all eager to test their knowledge and enjoy the performance. Congratulations to Mrs Lovett and 5L.

Year 6S students dazzled the school community with their exceptional talents in their final Junior School assembly. Their talent show featured magic tricks, Rubik’s Cube solving, dancing, singing and a live band. The assembly was expertly hosted by two charismatic comperes who guided the audience through the acts with humour and enthusiasm.

The show also featured a panel of judges who provided encouraging feedback on each performance. Bravo 6S and Miss Sakeson.

We had approximately 40 students attend District Cross Country last week and all performed extremely well, with 11 students qualifying for Divisional Cross Country. Congrats to all our competitors and best of luck to those moving on to Divisionals. Sincere thanks to Mr Batey for running the event. Well done to our CGS team who finished second overall.

Years 3 to 6 students participated in an exciting Crepe Incursion. This event combined cultural immersion with language learning, as each child ordered their crepe in French and then enjoyed eating it.

The incursion provided a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to practice their French language skills while indulging in a delicious treat. I would like to sincerely thank Madame Grant for organising this fabulous event.

Last week, we hosted a Body Safety Awareness Junior School Parent Workshop at CGS. This was a well-attended event and parents who attended were very thankful for the opportunity.

Body Safety Australia is a child sexual abuse prevention program. It is designed to empower and educate children to understand and communicate their right to bodily autonomy and equip communities to prevent child sexual abuse.

Following on from this, our teachers will attend a PD session and our F–6 students will all participate in Body Safety incursions this term. We believe this is a very important and informative program.

3N Woodwork Lesson

The students of 3N recently enjoyed a woodwork lesson with Mr Peter Young. The students made their mums a wooden coaster for Mother’s Day. They learnt how to sand the timber and created patterns and grooves using various wood files. Finally, they finished off by writing into the timber using an engraver.

Towards the end of the lesson, the Year 9 Tech class arrived and assisted the Year 3 students with applying an oiled finish to their coasters.

The Year 3 students were very excited to give their mums their handmade gifts.

Thank you Mr Young for taking the time to teach some of our junior students at Casey Grammar school.
