From the Head of Junior School

Hello from Canberra! Our Year 6 Camp has got off to a fabulous start. Look out for a full report in our next newsletter.

Mrs Lee Britton-Bird and 4L kicked off our class assemblies for 2024 recently. Our 4L students celebrated their wonderful CGS teachers in the style of Dr Suess by recreating Hooray for Diffendoofer Day but relating it to ‘Crazy Grammar School’ whoops, I am sure they meant Casey Grammar School. Well done on your fabulous crazy poems about each of our teachers.

I must say that I absolutely loved the Casey Grammar song that was written and performed by 4L. The final performance of the assembly, a Celebrate the World dance, was certainly worth the wait. Bravo 4L and Mrs Britton-Bird!

I would like to congratulate our entire Year 6 cohort on their recent Commissioning Service.

Our Junior School leaders did themselves proud as they pledged to lead our Junior School, representing themselves, their fellow Years F–6 students and the wider school community to the best of their ability. Sincere thanks to our wonderful Chaplain, Mrs Monique Riviere-Pendle for putting the whole service together and ensuring it was such a success.

Thank You and Farewell For Now

Dear Casey Grammar community,

It is with joy and excitement to say farewell for now, as I go on maternity leave at the beginning of Week 7 in preparation to have my daughter.

Being the Head of Reid House over the last few years has been a very rewarding experience. I have enjoyed being able to mentor House captains, as well as build a strong relationship with Reid students across Years 3–6.

It has been such a privilege to be a Head of House, as I got to be a part of many students’ wellbeing journey by facilitating their growth and helping them to strive to the best of their abilities.

It is a position that I hold dearly to my heart.

For the remainder of the 2024 school year, I am delighted to welcome Sarah Black, who will be taking over as Head of Reid. I am confident that Reid students will be in good hands and that Sarah will do a phenomenal job leading Reid House.

Thank you once again and farewell, for now.
