It is Almost the End of the 2023 School Year

It is difficult to believe that we have almost come to the end of the 2023 school year. It has been a year full of rich learning activities, lots of fun, friendships and many celebrations.

Recently we have enjoyed two assemblies in the Junior School. 2S hosted their assembly and entertained us by taking us on a journey to the Dr Seuss world of The Lorax. The students acted, sang and danced up a storm while telling the story of caring for our environment. Sincere thanks to Miss Schulz and her very talented students. Last week, it was 3B’s turn to host our assembly. Their assembly focused on their classroom values which aligned with our school values of compassion, integrity, inclusion, respect and excellence. Their assembly aimed to put a smile on everyone’s face and they certainly achieved this. The entire Junior School received beautiful hearts from 3B and I am sure they will be treasured. Well done to 3B and Ms Burns.

What a day! The Years 3–6 Swimming Carnival was a huge success, filled with laughter, cheers and incredible displays of sportsmanship. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event a highlight on our school calendar. All Houses demonstrated incredible team spirit throughout the Carnival. The sea of yellow, red, blue and green and the resounding House chants echoed a sense of unity and support, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Congratulations to our gold, silver and bronze medal recipients and bravo to Reid House for winning and taking home the silverware. Thanks to all our staff who attended and got into the House spirit and special thanks to Mr Jeff Batey for organising this wonderful event.

The Foundation and Year 1 annual swimming lessons are underway. Commencing swimming lessons at such an early age can have numerous benefits for children. Learning to swim not only enhances water safety but also contributes to overall physical and cognitive development. These lessons focus on creating a positive and supportive environment to help children feel comfortable in the water. Building confidence is key to their enjoyment of swimming and can contribute to a lifelong love of aquatic activities.

Our Summer Instrumental Concert was a wonderful way to showcase the musical talents and efforts of our Junior School students. The event recognised the active involvement of the students who learn an instrument. It provided a platform for showcasing talent and fostered a sense of teamwork, discipline and dedication among the young performers. The Year 3 students opened the concert with each class performing a song on the various glockenspiels and concluded the show with a song learnt during choir which was a highlight of the evening. Huge congratulations and thanks to our dedicated Performing Arts teacher, Mrs Kyne, for organising this fabulous concert. Thanks also to our hard-working staff who attended.
