From the Head of Junior School

Our Year 3 students recently headed off on their first school camp to The Briars in Mount Martha. They enjoyed every minute of their adventure with highlights being the giant swing, the flying fox, movie night and sleeping in cabins with friends. Their behaviour and willingness to take on new challenges was commended by the camp staff. I am sure everyone slept well on Friday night, not just our students but also the teachers. Sincere thanks to Ms Burns, Mrs Black, Ms Nolan, Ms Trompeuse, Mrs Barnes, Ms Djordjevic and Mrs Torcasio for making the camp possible and ensuring the students felt safe and secure whilst away from their families. It was a pleasure to visit camp, join in the festivities and stay the night with our excited and happy students.

Last Wednesday our annual Jump Rope 4 Heart Jump Off took place involving all Junior School students. Not only did our students have a lot of fun with skipping ropes but we also raised valuable funds for the Heart Foundation. Thank you to Ms Roffey and Mr Batey for training the students during PE sessions and organising this very worthy event.

We had the pleasure of attending 5K’s assembly last week. We sailed the seas on a cruise ship with them and enjoyed watching the story unfold that was written by the students of 5K. The values of gratitude and kindness were highlighted in their performance. The acting and dancing skills were certainly of a high standard and it was evident that the students were enjoying putting on such an engaging performance. Congratulations to 5K and Mrs Khvorostin.

Congratulations to our outstanding athletes, Zara, Erlyn, Allanah, Pranshi and Kobi for representing CGS at Regional Athletics and a huge congratulations to Vrinda who has qualified for long jump at state level. What an amazing achievement!

We were blessed with beautiful weather last Friday for our Foundation to Year 2 Athletics Carnival. The students demonstrated good sportsmanship and had a lot of fun as they participated in a variety of athletic and novelty events. Thank you to Mr Batey for organising the event and to our wonderful Year 6 Leaders for all their assistance and encouragement on the day.

Regional Athletics

Last week, 6 students from Casey Grammar competed at the Regional Athletics carnival at Casey Fields. Making it this far is a fantastic accomplishment. Allanah B, Pranshi R, Erlyn S and Zara M competed in the 4 x 100m relay and ran exceptionally well with excellent transition of the baton at each changeover. Kobi M competed in the 800 metre run against some extremely strong runners, and also ran an excellent race. Vrinda S competed in the long jump event, placing 2nd overall with a jump of 4.24 metres. This result means that Vrinda has qualified for the state championships! I would like to congratulate all students on their performance at Regional Athletics, and especially Vrinda on her outstanding efforts. We wish her all the best as she heads off to compete against the best long jumpers in Victoria!

The Prep–2 Athletics Carnival was held on the school oval last week. It was fantastic to see the excellent participation and encouragement shown by the students as they rotated through the eight events. Lots of fun was had and it was great to see so many parents and friends in attendance to show their support, and even join in for a run! A huge thank you goes to the Year 6 students, who ran each event in their groups. Their leadership and professionalism in organizing the students and explaining the activities was outstanding.
