Success looks different for everyone

I am still recovering from the celebrations of last week! What a wonderful way for our Year 12 students to finish their Secondary School journey. With many tears shared, the week’s festivities were a fitting way to recognise the outstanding achievements of this cohort. I am very proud of each and every one of these students and cannot wait to see what they achieve in the future.

With this in mind, I wanted to remind our students that success looks different for everyone. Your school results are not your future; there are many more important determinants of success and happiness in life. Please take the time to define what success looks like for you as an individual and set goal/s to achieve this.

All the best to our 2023 Year 12s.

Casey Challenge Program – Term 4 (Careers)

In Term 4, the focus of the Casey Challenge program has shifted. More specifically, our Year 9 students have had the opportunity to reflect on the amazing experiences they have shared in 2023: but through a ‘career education’ lens.

In Week 1 and Week 2 (Term 4), we have focussed on identifying the employability skills that employers are seeking, with students identifying their own ‘evidence’ to showcase their skills to prospective employers. They have had the opportunity to develop their resumes and consider their individual strengths and interests.

Furthermore, on Wednesday 18 October, our Year 9 students had the opportunity to attend a Career Curiosity session, delivered by Tyson Day from Arrive and Thrive. In this session, students had the opportunity to learn and understand the importance of curiosity in developing a career. They also learnt about the relationship between work and using their strengths and interests to channel their decisions around life and career choices.

Over the next few weeks, we have engaged Talk Money to deliver two sessions, which focus on developing the financial literacy of our students. These ‘Talk Money’ sessions are designed to support students to successfully navigate the workplace (i.e. understanding their rights at work, managing superannuation and tax, rates of pay, workplace health and safety).

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. My workdays are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and I am best contacted on the below email.
