Staff Spotlight
At Casey Grammar we are very proud of all staff and their achievements. Throughout the year, we will highlight a different staff member within each newsletter to introduce you to some members you have perhaps not had the pleasure of meeting yet. This week, we had a chat with Maria Ramos-Chan.
Name: Maria Ramos-Chan
Position: Year 5 Teacher / Head of Reid House / Data and Analytics Coordinator
Qualifications: Bachelor of Education
- When did you join Casey Grammar?
I first joined Casey Grammar School in 2021. Little did I know that it would be the second year of remote learning, so I first navigated the ins and outs of a new school and a new class in an online environment. - What attracted you to work at the school?
Casey Grammar has an exceptional reputation in our local area. Spending many years at another local school, we would always hear about the wonderful things Casey was doing. Many surrounding schools set expectations and standards inspired by CGS and I just knew that I wanted to strive to work there. - How would you describe what you do in a few lines?
First and foremost, I’m a classroom teacher. I also have two positions of responsibility. As the Head of Reid House, I get the privilege of fostering the wellbeing of students in my House. I am also the Data and Analytics Coordinator for Junior School. This means I am responsible for helping staff collate, analyse and use our data to ensure that we are teaching to the point of need of our students. - What do you love most about your job and why?
Definitely the relationships that I get to build with my students. It is an honour to be so trusted and depended on by young people throughout their learning and social journey. - Three words which best describe you are …
Passionate, dedicated and driven. - In one sentence, tell us what your included photo is about:
