Celebrating Family
It was with joy that we had our Year 1 House Chapel services in the final week of the term to reflect on our theme of God’s family. We welcomed families to join us and we all enjoyed the students sharing their reflections and presenting their songs. Sincere thanks to all the families who made arrangements to attend, and to Mrs Roffey for her oversight of the Chapel services. It’s very special to be able to gather in our Chapel for these occasions.
Here are some reflections from our Year 1 students:
“I show my family love when I give my mum and dad hugs and kisses.” Zoe
“I show my family love by making my mum and dad happy.” Sophie
“God loves us wherever we go.” Harkeshwar
“I show love by listening and taking care of them.” Olen
Every Tile has Meaning
Many in our community would remember the tragic passing of Annalise in 2021. To acknowledge the first year since her passing, the students of Year 5 2022, as well as staff and Annalise’s family, came together to create an artwork. The mosaics represent the many lives impacted by Annalise, and each tile placed represents someone who knew her. It took some time for the mosaics to be finalised, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Williams, Mrs Bright and Ms Adam for their work after school to complete this project. We created a plaque that explains the mosaics, and had a special afternoon on the last day of Term 2 to officially launch them. The 2023 Year 6 cohort gathered with Annalise’s family and we were able to share memories and see the completed artwork glistening in the sun; the various shades of blue a reminder of the colour Annalise loved. As you walk past our special reflection garden, we hope you will enjoy the vibrancy of the artwork and the celebration of the beautiful life that it represents.
A Generous Heart
On the final day of Term 2, Booth and Reid had their House Chapel, which focused on the theme of ‘generosity’. We were privileged to hear from Josh West, a Traditional Owner from the Bunurong Land Council who shared a Welcome to Country for us. He reminded us of the responsibility each person has to care for country. The Chapel service celebrated the many acts of generosity by individuals — from coaches, teachers, friends and family members. Students were involved in a range of ways, but particular thanks to Joaquin in Year 12 for his moving and beautiful rendition of ‘The River Flows in You’. The Booth and Reid students also outlined their House Charities; The Salvation Army for Booth and Very Special Kids for Reid. Senior School students in these houses can look forward to hearing about the ways they will support these fantastic organisations.
I trust that you had a restful break and have had a positive start to the new term.
Every blessing in the week ahead
