Senior School Student Activities
It has been a very busy time over the past two weeks with a variety of wonderful student activities being held. In Senior School we enjoyed the SS House Performing Arts Festival. This competition has grown enormously since its inception last year. A packed auditorium of Senior School students cheered on their House. Congratulations to all who performed.
SIS Competitions
Selected senior students have also participated in the SIS Book in a Day competition and SIS Debating. Our senior athletes performed well at the SIS Athletics Competition, with the Under 17 girls winning a pennant and the school coming 3rd overall.
Junior School Student Activities
In Junior School, the students enjoyed playing in the House World Cup Competition over two lunchtimes. There were huge crowds of spectators cheering on their House. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Science Week
Science Week was held from 14–18 August. Casey Grammar students participated in a wide range of science activities which included rocket launches, science quizzes and an action-packed Senior School assembly presentation. Students learned many interesting scientific facts while having lots of fun. Congratulations to Ms Kylie Rose, Head of Science, and her creative team of science staff.
Book Week
Book Week was celebrated again this year with lots of wonderful activities throughout the week. It culminated in book dress up day where staff and students from both Junior and Senior School dressed as a character from a book. The students in 5R presented a wonderful Book Week assembly, celebrating the importance of stories and fairy tales. Congratulations to the students who remembered all of their lines. It was a very polished performance. 3S’s assembly also took its inspiration from a book — Mem Fox’s I’m Australian Too. Each student talked about their family backgrounds, what brought them to Australia, and showcased songs and dances from around the world.
Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Committee
Our Reconciliation Action Plan Committee has begun its work with an inaugural meeting last week. It is pleasing to see representatives from Senior School staff, Junior School staff, students and parents on this committee. We look forward to seeing their initiatives come to life in the future.
PTS Conference in 2024
We are aware that obtaining times for Parent-Teacher Interviews can sometimes be very competitive. After reviewing the current structure of Parent-Teacher Interviews, we have decided to implement change in 2024 by extending the number of Parent-Teacher Interview time slots. From next year, we will have one full day per semester (two days per year) as well as another afternoon (after school) available for parents to speak with teachers. Parents will be able to meet with teachers via Teams throughout the day. These days will be student free days so teaching staff are available to meet with parents. To assist with your planning, the dates for Parent-Teacher Interviews in 2024 are listed below:
Senior School
Friday 8 March (all day) and Tuesday 12 March (after school)
Monday 9 September (all day) and Tuesday 10 March (after school)
Junior School
Tuesday 23 April (after school) and Friday 26 April (all day)
Monday 5 August (all day) and Wednesday 7 August (after school)
A reminder to all parents that you are not restricted to Parent-Teacher Interview times to talk with your child’s teacher/s. If you have a question or concern, please contact the relevant teacher via SEQTA at any time.
