Year 4 Excursion to Hamer Hall
To compliment the learning experiences of our Year 4 students in Performing Arts, Mrs Kyne along with our fabulous staff, Mr Bell, Mrs Britton-Bird, Mrs Grant, Mrs Barnes and Ms Humphrey, travelled into the city to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra perform ‘The Making of the Orchestra’ at Hamer Hall. It was such an entertaining and clever way of teaching the students about all the different instruments. Here are some recounts about what they experienced:
On 18 August, we went to a place called Hamer Hall. We went down lots of stairs and as we entered, I noticed that other schools were there too. The show went for an hour and we learned all the different instruments and their families. It was amazing — I thought it was wonderful.

When we arrived we had our snack and then entered Hamer Hall. It was very big and we had to go down lots of stairs to enter the stage. I liked it — I heard bass, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. I wish I could go there again!

At Hamer Hall, we heard an orchestra. Cool fact: an orchestra is made up of four types of instruments called strings, brass, percussion and woodwind. I liked it because I’m really into music. My favourite part was at the start of the show.
