From the Head of Senior School
This week marked the official start of Semester 2, and with new beginnings come new opportunities. For students in Years 7 to 10, the updated timetable means some changes of subjects and new teachers. With the mid-year exams behind us, it would be wise for students to take note of the feedback from their teachers in order to set goals for the second half of the school year.
It was a pleasure to be able to recognise the achievements of so many Senior School students in this week’s Awards Assembly, from the presentation of Best & Fairest awards in Term 1 and Term 2 SIS Sport, to Academic Awards and Colours. Congratulations to all students who have shown commitment and growth in one or more areas of the co-curricular offerings at CGS.
Congratulations to Billie T of Year 11 for winning the annual SIS Golf Tournament. Billie won with an outstanding round of 78.
Well done Billie!
Congratulations to Lucas B of Year 8 who will be representing Victoria at the National Junior Indoor Cricket Championships in Ipswich next week.
Good Luck Lucas!
I hope that the upcoming holidays are a time of rest and rejuvenation for all students, staff and families. Students are encouraged to spend quality time with family and friends, disconnect from screens, enjoy the outdoors, and keep their minds and bodies active. It is crucial for all our Senior School students to strike a balance between leisure and academic commitments during this break in order to maintain effective work habits upon returning for Term 3.
I look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 18 July.

Public Speaking and Debating
Public Speaking and Debating have both been popular extra-curricular activities at Casey Grammar School for some time now. Both of these activities present a great opportunity for students to improve their confidence and social skills. Further, taking part in these competitions grants opportunities for us to meet students from all around the state, and have fun while doing so.
This year our debating team have participated in the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) competition. This requires students to stay after school hours to debate online against various schools from the Melbourne area. The online nature of this competition has allowed us to debate with students all around Melbourne and has been a unique and simultaneously incredible experience so far!
CGS will also be partaking in Southern Independent School (SIS) debating which begins in July. This competition gives us the opportunity to go to a host school for each round. This will provide a unique prospect for our debaters to meet, debate and talk to like-minded students, and will undoubtedly be a catalyst for many enjoyable memories and great learning experiences.
Congratulations to our debaters: Hibha K, Scarlet G, James D, Tina M, Guvani R, Acquline M, Anushka A, Manasa S, Johanna J, Theekshana T, Ekam G, Mehar D, Nethuli J, Ifra F, Aayana A, Esha S, Harleen K, Arpita A, Mineli B.
Our Public Speaking team has also taken part in SIS Public Speaking. This competition was hosted by Flinders Christian College on 5 May. Our eight-strong team of public speakers partook in two rounds of speaking: one with a prepared speech and one completely impromptu. Needless to say, it was an incredible day for every member of our team. In the end, Casey Grammar returned with a respectable 3rd place in both the Junior and Senior division, with the overall win going to Flinders College. These results are particularly remarkable because, for most of our speakers, this was their first time in a formal public speaking competition. Overall, we’re very proud of what everyone accomplished on the day.
Our public speakers are James D, Anushka A, Guvani R, Malalai K, Nethuli J, Theekshana T, Naaz K and Ekam G
