A Busy Week in the Performing Arts

A big thank you to all our fabulous performers, Performing Arts staff and audience members at our Instrumental Soiree on Tuesday 9 May, and at our VCE Theatre Studies Performance on Friday 12 May. Both events were a fabulous success amongst a week that was also filled with busy rehearsal and preparation for our upcoming Senior Production: The Little Mermaid.

We are very keen to gain feedback from audience members and performers about the new format Instrumental Soiree. There are many things that we like about the format, and a few things that we are keen to modify for next term. It was fabulous to be able to see so many of our young performers get up to perform, many having their very first performance experience in a more relaxed and supportive concert format. If you do have feedback about the event then we encourage you to reach out to our instrumental teaching staff, Antoinette, or me and let us know your thoughts. Well done to all of our performers for their excellent performances.

Finally, a big congratulations to the VCE Theatre Studies class for their performance of The 39 Steps: a Patrick Barlow adaptation of the classic Alfred Hitchcock tale. The performance formed part of the assessment for the coursework, and the students were responsible for not only their performance, but also for the planning and design of all areas of stagecraft: lighting, sound, costume, set, props and direction. It was a wonderfully witty performance, and one which the audience thoroughly enjoyed. Particular thanks go to Mr Peake for all his hard work in producing the event.
