Term 2 is a massive one from a career’s perspective. Our Year 8 to Year 11 students are making decisions regarding their 2024 subjects and our Year 12 students are inching closer to submitting their course preferences for 2024 (VTAC applications open on 31 July 2023).

At Casey Grammar School, we are committed to supporting our students with making informed subject selections; selections that align with a student’s strengths, values and interests, and factor in pre-requisite requirements for future study aspirations. To support this aim, we are running a number of exciting events in Term 2.

One such event is National Careers Week (Week 4). National Careers Week is an initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) and aims to celebrate careers, career development, career development services, and career development practitioners while promoting the economic, social and personal benefits of career development. For further information regarding National Careers Week at Casey Grammar School, I would encourage you to read the letter that was sent to all Senior School parents/guardians in Week 2.

Careers and Pathways Week 2023

In Term 1 2023, all Year 10 students participated in Careers and Pathways Week. Careers and Pathways Week provided our students the opportunity to conduct research into future career pathways by visiting tertiary providers and engaging in activities designed to enhance their enterprise skills in preparation for 2023 and beyond.

It was a huge week!

My experience of Careers and Pathways week was very positive. Personally, this experience was very beneficial to me, as I now know that I definitely want to pursue a university degree on completion of my studies at Casey Grammar School. I also have an idea of the career pathway I would like to explore. I really enjoyed going to Monash University and Deakin University. Monash gave me a ‘wow’ factor, and a real idea as to what a university life can look like. Deakin University gave me a real ‘home’ feeling and had lots of courses that piqued my interests. I also enjoyed hearing from the guest speakers (Tyson Day: Arrive & Thrive, Kate Austin: Pinchapoo) about their views and career pathways.

Matilda Z, Year 10

A big thank you to the 2023 Year 10 students. I was very proud of how well they represented themselves and Casey Grammar School. It was my pleasure getting to know this group and I am excited to support them on their career journeys.
