Australia’s Best Teachers
Our exceptional teachers inspire students to be creative, curious and collaborative learners every day.
Whilst we think that all our teachers are equally wonderful, maybe you’d like to nominate someone specific for the Australia’s Best Teachers series.
The series will be published in national newspapers and magazines in the coming months, and we’re sure any of our teachers would be proud to have you nominate them!
It takes approximately five minutes to submit a nomination. Simply follow this link.
Childsafety
Childsafety is of paramount importance at Casey Grammar. All parents who wish to volunteer at the school need to know and understand our childsafe policies. You also need a current Working with Children Check. If you are planning to volunteer at the school, you should ask the teacher you are assisting to provide you with the childsafe policies you need to know while working with children.
I would also like to remind all parents that if you open a gate to enter the school during the day, please close the gate behind you. The gates along the PAC carpark must be kept closed throughout the school day. They are opened again at the end of the school day.
JS Leadership Commissioning
It was a privilege to be part of the JS Leadership Commissioning Service last week. The focus of the commissioning was on all Year 6 students as they are now the leaders of Junior School. In the service, the leaders were encouraged to think about how their words, actions and behaviour influence others. They were reminded of the value of integrity in leadership — to always do the right thing even if no one is watching.
I look forward to watching the Year 6 students as they develop their leadership skills throughout 2023.
Cosy Reading
I would like to thank all the parents who attended the Junior School Reading Support information sessions. It is wonderful to see so many parents interested in learning how to support children as they learn to read. I hope all parents enjoy many hours of ‘cosy reading’ with your children.
Foundation BBQ
We were blessed with a lovely evening for our 2023 Foundation BBQ. It was wonderful to see so many children and parents gathering together and getting to know each other at the BBQ.
Year 6 Camp
After a break of three years due to the pandemic, it was wonderful to see the Year 6 students set off to Canberra for their week of civics and citizenship studies. The staff and students loved visiting important cultural sites and learning more about what it means to be Australian.
Year 7 Camp
The focus of the Year 7 camp is for the students and staff to get to know each other and for new friendships to be formed. These goals were certainly achieved during this year’s camp. I enjoyed greeting the students and staff on their return and to hear them excitedly talk about their adventures on camp and the new friends they had made.
Year 8 camp
It was with great disappointment that we were obliged to postpone the Year 8 camp this term. We are working on finding a new date later in the year for the camp and will notify students and families once it is confirmed.
