Over the past two weeks we have been entertained by 4N and 5R as they hosted our assemblies. 4N took us on an adventure to many cities around the world in search of lost butterfly wings. The students amazed us with their incredible dance routines, excellent acting ability and vibrant costumes. Congratulations to Ms Nolan and her talented students. 5R’s assembly took us on an adventure through space and we learned about the planets in our solar system. The acting skills, knowledge of the planets, costumes and props were all ‘out of this world’! Bravo to Miss Ramos and her wonderful students.
Recently our Year 3 students enjoyed an excursion to the IMAX Theatre and Museum, our Year 5 students spent a fabulous day at Scienceworks, and our Year 1 students were fascinated by their Science Incursion.
Last Tuesday we welcomed 75 future Foundation students to our school. Their transition session included a performance from 4N in our PAC and a visit to the Foundation classrooms. Today we welcomed them back for their second session and we look forward to having them join our school community next year.
On Wednesday 19 October, our entire school community farewelled our 2022 Year 12 students by creating a guard of honor for their final walk through the school. Prior to this, it was a pleasure to be involved in their Valedictory assembly where Mrs Torcasio and myself paid tribute to the sixteen students whose thirteen-year educational journey began and concluded at CGS. It seems like only yesterday that we welcomed them as bright-eyed, curious Preppies. How quickly they have become mature well-educated young adults with the world at their feet. The Valedictory dinner that evening was a fitting conclusion to their schooling and there was much to celebrate. Best of luck to all our Year 12 students as they commence their exams tomorrow. Congratulations and farewell to our class of 2022!

Year 4N Assembly
It was wonderful for the 4N students to perform their assembly and entertain parents, teachers and students last week. Many of our students had not performed an assembly for at least two years due to Covid restrictions.
The assembly was about a fairy who had lost her wings. She travelled with her friend to different countries in search of them. She eventually found her wings at Casey Grammar School!
The meaning behind the assembly was about not giving up and to keep on trying. The students performed three dances each and shone on stage with their sparkly costumes. They worked very hard during rehearsals, learning new choreography and all about stage presence.
Year 4N students were lucky enough to perform a shorter version of their assembly at the Foundation Transition morning. I was incredibly proud of all the students. Seeing their confidence grow and become amazing entertainers to our future Foundation students and their parents was wonderful.
Below are some reflections from the students of 4N:
“My group dances were Hawaiian and ABBA. I was nervous and excited as I walked onto the stage. The audience clapped for us at the end, it felt wonderful.”

“I was in the Cowboy group and the crowd went wild! We wore jeans, a checkered shirt and a cowboy hat. My other group was Rio de Janeiro, and we had maracas and wore sunglasses. I loved this assembly so much! In fact, I loved every bit of it.”

“When the assembly was starting, I was a bit nervous. When we started dancing, I felt much better. I was in the New York group and the Viking Swedish group. I loved our New York costumes. We wore sparkly jackets, with a top hat and we used a cane in our dance. For the Vikings, we had shields, and Booth won the battle.”

“4N’s assembly was an amazing experience. I will never forget this assembly - it was spectacular! As soon as I walked onto the stage, I felt an adrenaline rush and a sense of nervousness. I loved performing the dances. My favourite dance move was when we rolled our arms and made a wave. It looked very cool.”

Year 5 - Systems and Communities
In Year 5, we have been learning about Systems and Communities. Within this unit, we have learned about different man-made systems that have impacted our ever-changing world.
As part of our unit, the Year 5 students built their own electric car using a motor, wires, gears and batteries, which allowed their cars to run automatically. Here are some photos of our creative work.

Regional Athletics
On Wednesday, 19th October, four Casey Grammar students represented the school at Regional Athletics at Casey Fields. The sun was shining and the weather was perfect, and all four students did the school proud at this high level event.
Alarice M, Year 6, competed in two events. She placed 4th in the 1500 metres in a very tight finish for 3rd, as well as 6th in the 800 metres after winning both these events at the previous Divisional event.
Kobi M, Year 5, finished 4th in the Hurdles event after qualifying in 2nd at Divisional Athletics.
Vrinda S, Year 5, finished in 3rd place in the Long Jump with a very close finish after taking out the win at Divisional Athletics.
Meg V, Year 6, competed valiantly in Triple Jump after taking out 2nd place at Divisional Athletics.
Well done to these students on their outstanding achievement!
