COVID Update

While the Government continues to loosen COVID restrictions in the general community, many of the restrictions we’ve lived under for the past two years remain in schools. To keep our staff and students safe from the spread of COVID, we continue to practice COVID-safe protocols. These include:

  • Twice weekly RA testing
  • Maintaining physical distances of 1.5m
  • Wearing masks
  • Mask are mandatory for students in Years 3–6 (unless they have a mask exemption) and for teachers (except when they are teaching)
  • Masks are highly recommended when indoors for all staff and senior school students
  • The school has a large supply of face masks, including N95 suitable for adults and older children, and smaller masks for our youngest children
  • Providing extra ventilation and air purification in all learning spaces
  • Staying at home and having a PCR test if you are unwell
  • Staff complete COVID risk assessments and implement COVID risk minimisation strategies for all non-classroom activities such as excursions, camps, assemblies, music, drama, sports and major school events
  • Providing hand sanitiser and antiseptic wipes to all classrooms and public areas of the school
  • Not sharing food
  • Non-contact greetings ie no handshaking.

Most of the COVID-safe protocols we have been following will continue until at least the end of Term 1.

We have received our next delivery of RATs and these will be distributed to staff and students on Wednesday, 2 March. The pack will contain five tests and will last for the next two weeks.

Prioritising Car Park Safety

It is concerning how the behaviour of a few parents in all three of our car park areas is jeopardising the safety of everyone. This week I have received more complaints from the Salvation Army car park and the Stadium car park.

I again remind everyone to follow the traffic flow plans for these car parks (see attached). These plans have been devised to ensure predictability of traffic flow in the car parks and safety for all pedestrians. The following concerns remain:

Basketball Stadium Car Park

  • Please do not park on the grassy verge outside the Stadium carpark. This behaviour is extremely dangerous for students walking on the footpaths
  • Please do not park in the new cross-over to the building site behind the basketball stadium
  • Please drive slowly.

Casey Grammar PAC Car Park

  • Please be patient and respectful when using the PAC carpark. This carpark takes about 25 minutes to empty each afternoon. Please factor this into your afternoon plans so you are not trying to rush out of the car park
  • Please ensure you stop and look both ways at each of the pedestrian crossings
  • Please park in the allocated spaces
  • Please do not tailgate other drivers.

Salvation Army Car Park

  • At school pick up time, please ensure you back into the parking spots that run parallel to the Salvation Army building (see map). It is important that these cars are facing out so drivers are not backing into pedestrians walking through the car park
  • Please respect the Salvation Army property and DO NOT WALK THROUGH THE GARDEN BEDS, particularly the garden at the front of the building. The plants are struggling to grow and the chain around the garden is regularly trampled along with the plants

Safety is a huge concern for all members of our community at the moment — both road safety and COVID safety. Could you please follow the measures put in place to keep our community safe and show respect to other people at all times.

Stay safe, stay well.
