Honouring Annalise
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I put pen to paper today. Our entire Casey Grammar School community is in mourning following the tragic death of one of our treasured students, Annalise.
Annalise was a 4N class member. She was a bubbly, happy girl who always had a smile on her face. She loved and adored her family and friends and her teacher, Ms Nolan. Her favourite colour was blue and music was a passion of hers. She loved singing and one of her favourite songs was Pink’s Cover me in Sunshine.
Each Junior School virtual classroom is honouring Annalise this week and part of that process is listening to this song which will forever remind us of Annalise.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Annalise’s family at this most difficult time. Even though we are not onsite together, I’m sending strength and prayers to our whole community and all our staff are figuratively wrapping their arms around Annalise’s family and every CGS student and parent.

Remembering Annalise
Just as 4N was dealing with Lockdown 6.0 they then had to cope with losing a classmate.
Earlier this week we learnt the very sad news of Annalise’s sudden passing. This has left a giant hole in the 4N Family and we have spent the week trying to bond as a class and support each other in this time of extreme sadness.
Annalise was a vibrant, bubbly, happy, funny, artistic, talented little girl with a huge smile. She made our class laugh, she loved to sing, make jokes and share her stories. The students have been creating cards and writing pieces to honour Annalise.
Here is a poem by Ivy in 4N:
Annalise,
A special person with a beautiful smile, who made every day brighter.
A friend I loved to sing and play with, and laugh with every day.
Now there is a new star, the brightest in the sky, and everytime I look up and see it, I will always remember you and smile.
I miss you from the bottom of my heart, and wish I could see you again. I love you so very much and am so lucky that you came into my life.
Love from Ivy xxx 💙💙
Today we celebrated ‘Blue Day’ as we remembered how much Annalise loved the colour blue. We all dressed up in blue and made our backgrounds blue. We knew how positive and happy Annalise was and we wanted ‘Blue Day’ to reflect this.
Our hearts go out to Robert, Julia and Brendon and all of Annalise’s friends and family.

4B Remembers Annalise
It was wonderful to see all the students in 4B embracing the colour blue in our Google Meet on Tuesday morning. It was a beautiful way of paying tribute to Annalise and her favourite colour.
Here Goes Remote Learning 6.0!
4N have demonstrated resilience and a very positive attitude towards this latest lockdown. Our roll question for the class last week was “What word do you think of when you hear the word ‘Lockdown’?"
The students responses included patience, depressed, annoyed, frustrated, grateful, sad, resilient, bored, uncertainty, anger, stuck, anxiety, worry, family, masks, press conferences, loneliness, isolated and exercise.
I am proud to say that 4N has had full attendance for all lessons and they are trying their very best. Miss Nolan still tries to impress her students with her ridiculously funny jokes, but she thinks that sometimes the students’ internet has been a bit slow, because the students were not laughing!
While many parents have been concerned about the learning taking place online, one might look at this generation as a group of students who have shown resilience and adapted extremely well to change.
They have shown flexibility and discovered new ways to learn. I believe these skills to be very important in real life. One positive about these lockdowns are that students are able to face challenges and work through them.
Keep up the fantastic work 4N!

Our Preps Have Been Busy…
This week, the Prep students have enjoyed reading the book, Rosie’s Walk, and explored story mapping. It was a pleasure to see the wonderful ideas that our Prep students had when creating new story endings.
One of the highlights of our week was receiving the videos of each student acting out their story map using a wide variety of voices for the characters on Seesaw.

Persuasive Posters
As part of our persuasive writing, students created persuasive posters to try and convince their peers to buy what they were selling. A fun task, students enjoyed sharing their posters during our class Google meet.
