Recognising our School Leaders

It would perhaps be naïve of us to think that the challenges of 2020 were completely behind us. Nevertheless, our first two weeks of term were a glimpse into the hopes and expectations that we all share for the year ahead.

A highlight of Week 2 was certainly the Commissioning Service in which our community was able to acknowledge and give support to our School Principal and the Year 12 Leaders in their new roles.

This occasion also marked a very special time in the lives of the Year 12 students and their families, as they begin their final year in Senior School. Due to restrictions, students in Years 7 to 10 were not present for the Service but were able to watch the live stream from their classrooms!

Activity Planning Continues

Week 2 also saw the return to SIS Sport for Intermediate Girls Volleyball, Senior Girls Basketball and Senior Boys Soccer. Unfortunately, the Year 7 Camp that was planned for Week 3 has had to be rescheduled, we will provide the new dates once they have been confirmed.

With the ‘all clear’ allowing us to return to campus, we are full steam ahead with excursions and the Year 8 camp in Week 4. House Meetings took place outside to finalise sign-ups for the Swimming Carnival in Week 5.

Student Leaders Forge Ahead

Despite our brief lockdown, the Year 12 Student Leadership Team members were able to meet remotely to discuss their plans and goals as School Captains, House Leaders, and within the portfolios of Communications, Environment, Peers Support, Performing Arts, Social Justice, Sport and Wellbeing.

There has been great interest from students in Years 7 to 12 wishing to join the Student Representative Council or House Leadership Committees to help put the ideas into action.

Bon Appétit!

The Year 8 students enjoyed a French-style breakfast on the ground floor of the “Restaurant La Tour Eiffel” during the Early Commencement Program.

Students discovered the ingredients needed to make popular French breakfast foods, learning vocabulary and phrases related to ordering food in French.

Students placed an order using the French language for a croissant with a choice of toppings and/or a pain au chocolat (chocolate bread).

Students placed their order and enjoyed their croissant, pain au chocolat and mango juice.
